6 Social Ideas to Connect with Your Church

Social media is a tool for reaching people, sharing your church's unique story, and creating opportunities for discipleship and community building. Keep your social media presence fresh, real, and purposeful to help people engage with your people and encounter Christ.

Try out these social media ideas for your church’s social media.

1. Create short devotional videos

Ask pastors or staff members to film a short video encouraging your community, sharing biblical insights, and challenging viewers to put their faith into action.

2. Use Instagram’s ‘Question’ Feature in stories

Start a conversation with your people in your Instagram stories. Not sure what to say? Try these:

  • “What’s something you’re praising God for today?”

  • “How can we partner with you in prayer today?”

  • “What is one practical step you’re taking from Sunday’s message?”

3. Create shareable graphics

Graphics with sermon quotes, verses, and song lyrics are a great opportunity to encourage your community to share the post with their friends.

Bonus tip: If your audience likes the look of the posts, they will be more likely to share it on their own page!

4. Create a Prayer Challenge

Create a resource that walks your church through a 7-day-long prayer challenge. Remind your followers on social media about it through your Instagram stories.

5. Use Instagram’s broadcast channel feature

Share quick updates and behind-the-scenes info with your people through a broadcast channel.

Remind them of big event sign-ups, let them know when Sunday’s service is live on YouTube, and bring them into the day-to-day of your church.

6. Use Facebook and Instagram Live for daily prayer

Bring your church together through live daily prayer. Encourage your church to chat in the comments and share their prayers and praises.
